Well frak. I was just finishing up my third swatch for the Master Knitter level 1 when I went to type something up for my notes. I already had some bits from my first swatch in my document, including the title copied directly from the program notes. That's when I realized the first swatch was supposed to be a 2x2 rib followed by garter stitch. GARTER STITCH! My completed first swatch which I think is a REALLY REALLY great swatch is 2x2 rib and STOCKINETTE STITCH! My brain must have confused the instructions for swatch 1 and swatch two when I was working on swatch 1! It's just such a lovely example of 2x2 ribbing with a really nicely done stockinette stitch tubular cast on (pictured in the last post) and really well done stockinette stitch. My swatch 2 isn't quite as good as the incorrect swatch 1, and it makes me sad that my first swatch won't make it to the committee. My second swatch is currently in blocking position. It's already version 2 of itself. Version 1, which I made last night while at a friend's house, wound up with a ribbing that was half an inch too long. I didn't have my ruler with me bt discovered one in the back of one of my books. The ruler in my book, though, was part of a guage checking page, and I didn't realize until the ribbing measured long today that I was measuring from the edge of the page while the ruller was not. Swatch 2 may go into version 3 soon as I'm not entirely sold on version 2's cast on. I used a tubular cast-on but found it quite difficult. I don't even know what to call the cast-on I used in version 1. I think it might be like an alternating long-tailed cast-on, but I'm not sure. I saw it in a video but can't find a reference with the books I have. Swatch 3 is a seed stitch which I just finished up. I used an alternate loop cast-on which looks quite charming. It may also be useful in I retry swatch 2. If. On another note, I got things set up with the camcorder and my computerso I may be able to attempt some videos in the near future. I know there are a ton out there, but whose to say I can't make my own for future reference?
